At the end of the day the most important relationship in your life is the one you have with yourself. You are you 24 hours a day and you are
stuck with you till death. So, spending quality time by yourself is so important, right? That’s why we all need to find time for some me time.
I realized lately how much I enjoy going to the gym. I went from a person that was always thinking “I’ll start next Monday. Maybe next month? I’ll do it from New Year’s” to a person that goes to the gym with a smile. There are a few reasons that make me feel so happy about my work-outs, but maybe the biggest one is that for me gym time = me time. I make sure to find the time in my day that is dedicated to me. Now, it’s not always about sweating it out, but no matter what I decide to make my ‘me time’ about, I always feel so much better after it. I can’t emphasize the importance of it enough. We are all stressed and never having enough time, and lots of us have many different roles that require us to take care of others too (big round of applause to all the moms out there). So in-between all that it can be hard to find time that is just for you. It can even seem selfish at times, or like some sort of luxury that you can’t afford. But, prioritizing you and finding time for you is not selfish. It is necessary.
When you take care of yourself and take some time to make sure that you are doing good and that your needs are satisfied, you will feel so much better. And, the magic trick is that the better you feel the better you will be at fulfilling your roles at work, with family and so on. So don’t let the crazy schedule or guilt stop you from finding time to nurture you. Even if it’s just 10 minutes a day, I promise it will make a huge difference! And now tell me, what do you enjoy doing on your me time?
