We live in 2019 and human feet have touched the Moon. It’s about time we leave the concept of ‘dressing your age’ behind us.
Let me start with a rather philosophical question – what is age? Is it strictly a number or is it all about a feeling? For me personally, age has more to do with energy and a feeling than it does with your year of birth. Looks don’t have much to do with age either, especially nowadays when new features can be bought just like groceries. So if age is personal and abstract I don’t see the reason why it should be considered as one of the factors when dressing.

Our style is a very personal thing and it reflects who we are and the mood we’re in. As style mirrors how we feel it should resonate with our age in the same way – as a subjective feeling. In such a personal matter as style, we should not care for societal norms that emboss limitations. It is 2019 and the only people that have to follow a protocol when dressing are the Royals. And even there Meghan Markle is breaking some rules in order to be able to express herself. For the rest of us, the only rule should be that there are no rules. Fashion should be fun and rules and fun mostly don’t go together.

What makes me happy is to see more and more amazing ladies of different ages showing their styles. From stars on the red carpet to TV show characters like Frankie and Grace to a lady in the supermarket. They are not afraid to show the world who they are, to stand out and live by their own rules. Style changes with you and evolves through your life, but should not be limited by your year of birth. If you feel good wearing something then that’s the most important thing. So, if the next time you wanna wear a shorter skirt or a sleeveless dress you start wondering if you should, let our inner feeling be your compass. Life’s too short to care for others’ opinions anyway.
