It is no coincidence that the Christian Louboutin exhibition called L’Exhibitioniste is taking place at Palais de la Porte Dorée in Paris. The designer was born in the 12th district of Paris, not far from the palace, and was fascinated by its beauty from an early age. As he told Vogue magazine :“Since I was a child, I’ve had a very close relationship with Le Palais de la Porte Dorée, I grew up next to it and used to visit it almost every weekend as it hosts a tropical aquarium inside. I was fascinated by the colours and the iridescence of the fish.”
“Having the opportunity to display a strong creative insight into my universe and inspiration in a place as important in my career as Le Palais de la Porte Dorée is very important to me.”
The exhibition shines light on Christian’s creativity and the inspiration behind his designs. But, besides the legendary red soles, the visitors will have a special treat. As the Palais de la Dorée stated :”The exhibition will also unveil collaborations, never seen before, with artists who are important to him: the director and photographer David Lynch, the New Zealand multimedia artist Lisa Reihana, the British designer duo Whitaker Malem, the Spanish choreographer Blanca Li, and the Pakistani artist Imran Qureshi, amongst others.” Sounds like a real feast for the eyes and the soul.
The exhibition will run from February 26 to July 26 2020. Find more info here.
