It’s time to learn The True Cost

We all love fashion here, right? If you think about it, it’s amazing just how affordable and easy it is to get new clothes nowadays. There are shops in every corner and you can even do your shopping online with everything being just a click away. It is super convenient and there are all these items for everyone’s budget. But, just like anything else, this doesn’t come without a cost. And now, it’s time to learn the true cost and what is actually happening behind the curtains so that we could get that T-shirt for just 9.99.

The true cost

Having affordable fashion is great as not all of us want or can afford to spend a fortune on clothes. But, in order to have such a low price, these garments are created in a certain way. Starting from the production of fabrics, to where these fabrics are being assembled and sawn together – there are many steps that need to be made before the collection is sold in stores. This mechanism is happening backstage and out of the limelight. But, without it there would be nothing to call fashion.

The face fashion industry chooses to present to us is always fabulous, but the background of it can be quite the opposite. That is what The True Cost documentary shows very well. It reveals the painful, harmful and sometimes inadmissible side of this multi billion dollar industry. When you see the label saying ‘Made in Bangladesh’ you may not think about it. You may not be aware of horrible and even life treating conditions that these workers are facing. You also may not know that fashion is second most polluting industry, right after oil! So, the fact that we can get a great outfit for under 100 euros (or dollars or whatever) is coming with a cost. That cost is so hight that it’s being paid with human lives. It is so hight that it’s destroying our planet. All of this will keep on happening as long as we (the customers) don’t get informed enough to put an end to it. And your first step forward is to watch this documentary and decide for yourself if we can pay the true cost or modern fashion.
