All About Fashion with Nemanja Ivanisevic

  • Ivona Josipovic
  • 9 November 2015

I’ve known Nemanja Ivanisevic for over five years now, so I got super happy when I heard he is launching his own fashion label called HIGH END Limited. I was also super excited when I realized I will be in Belgrade to see the collection that was presented during Belgrade Fashion Week. His first menswear collection for his brand is strong, urban and impeccably done. I could clearly see signs of Nemanja in it. He is also strong, urban, very detail oriented and incredibly creative. I can continue with compliments as he honestly deserves them, but instead, I leave you with our interview. Discover all about fashion with Nemanja Ivanisevic.

Please introduce yourself to our readers.

For me it’s always the hardest to talk about myself. I leave that to others, which is probably why I’m hiding behind the name of my brand HIGH END Limited. In short, I’ve been professionally working in fashion for six years now. I worked as a stylist, buyer, personal shopper, fashion editor and a designer. Realizing that design is the most interesting and fulfilling, I made it my final choice. Of course, I still work as a stylist and buyer; those freelance jobs can be pretty exciting.

When and how did you get interested in fashion?

It might sound weird, but I wasn’t always interested in fashion. My first choice was economy. It was there, in high school,  that I realized it’s a world I don’t belong in. I also noticed that my creativity and sense for fashion was more refined than at my peers.

What fashion represents to you?

For me it’s a combination of creativity, art and energy. Over all, it is a field where I can express the best of what I know. It’s an industry where I feel accomplished.

Describe your style in three words.

I don’t really need three words, it all fits into just one – SOPHISTICATED. I always try to play according to the rules and respect the dress code of every event, while keeping sophisticated in mind. When combining clothes I believe in ‘less is more’.

Who do you have in mind when designing for your brand?

Well, my man, the one I have in my head that wears perfectly all of my designs, is cosmopolitan, he doesn’t have an address and he’s a citizen of the world. He’s not young, nor old and he’s very energetic while still being sophisticated and composed.

What do you find inspiration in?

Inspiration is all around us. Best moments to transform it into designs are while traveling. That is when I’m energized by the change of the environment and mostly free to dedicate my time to creativity.

What do you think about social media redefining fashion nowadays?

I am addicted to social media, Instagram to be precise. I think that social media helped open doors for many creative people to play on the global market. You no longer need your product to be on the pages of GQ to gain customers and admirers. It’s enough to have a great photo, the right hashtags and the game can begin.

If you could have any superpower what would you choose?

I’m not sure it’s a superpower, but I wish I had enough energy not to need sleep. Those few hours of sleeping are usually a waste of time for me. I often lay in bed waiting to fall asleep thinking about all the things I could get done in those next few hours if I wasn’t sleeping.

Best and worst sides of working in the fashion industry?

The best and the worst side are people. There are those that will be your friends, support and protect you; while on the other side we have those that can’t wait to see you fall.

Favorite magazines you like to read?

My favorite on the local scene is Harper’s Bazaar Serbia because I’m amazed every month by the high quality that the team behind it creates in the market where fashion industry is on a low level. Globally I enjoy CR Fashion Book and Fashion For Men.

Do you have a motto in life?

If you want to be original, be ready to be copied.

Where do you see yourself in five years from now?

I don’t really plan that far ahead, but I follow my progress I try to develop and grow on day to day basis. I achieve my goals and set up new ones. At this point, I see myself one year from now leading by then popular brand HIGH END Limited.
