5 Interesting facts about Kate Moss

  • Ivona Josipovic
  • 18 April 2016

One of the most known names in modelling is definitely Kate Moss. This petite British model is a category on her own as she made her name known despite not fitting into the supermodel look that people were used to at the time. Since then she’s graced numerous covers, walked the prestigious shows and shot amazing campaigns. Beside her modelling fame she also became a style icon, even designing her own collections for Topshop brand. Because of all that and more, she is one of the biggest names in fashion so we bring you 5 interesting facts about Kate Moss that you probably didn’t know about.

Kate was discovered at the JFK Airport in New York when she was going back to England from a holiday trip to the Bahamas. She was scouted by Sarah Doukas, the founder of Storm Model Management. She was only 14 when this happened. Her both siblings, Nick and Lottie, and signed with the same agency.

Interesting facts about kate moss

She did her first photo shoot for The Face in editorial called ‘The 3rd Summer of Love’ shot by Corrine Day. It was Day that described Kate’s photos like “dirty realism” and “grunge”. Moss was the face of the heroine chic look that was popularised in the 90’s. She was known as the anti-supermodel as she contrasted tall curvaceous figures with her 5’8″ size zero body.

Her turbulent love life got tabloids interested more than a few times. I’ll just mention her four-years relationship with Johnny Depp (the prettiest couple ever!) and the bad boy Pete Doherty. After a lot of wild romances and two engagement it seemed like Kate has found her happiness alongside Jamie Hince, but the couple is divorcing. Seems like Kate has no luck in love.

With over 300 covers from various magazines all over the world it is safe to say Kate left her mark on fashion. She appeared on Vogue covers 33 times and is even a contributing editor at British Vogue! For me the biggest surprise was Kate posing for Playboy’s 60th anniversary issue. She was photographed by Mert and Marcus and she showed the world that she still looks amazing even with her 40th birthday approaching at the time.

What is interesting about Kate is that she hates social media. Nowadays models are valued by their social media following, but Kate is old school and says she would hate it if everyone knew what she was doing all the time. She hates Twitter and rarely endorses her campaigns by promoting them online. I think the fact that she values her privacy makes me like her even more. Maybe this kind of mystery makes her even a bigger star.

There are many more interesting facts about Kate Moss, but I have to stop myself here. Do you have any other details from her life that you would add to our list? Hope to read about it in the comments bellow.

Oh goodness, these are such great facts about her. To this day, I don’t think anyone quite has anything comparable to her features, she’s truly 1 in a million.

Very cool- didn’t even know she had siblings! Definitely thought she was more like 5’6′ or 5’7″ in height though, which was super short for someone walking the runways as often as she did!
