3 Scandinavian fashion brands you need to know about

  • Ivona Josipovic

These 3 Scandinavian fashion brands prove that there’s more than just minimalism that’s done right in this part of the world.

Move over minimalism and make room for some fun and flirtatious outfits. Black is replaced by some fun prints, and silhouettes are playful and feminine. All of this from Scandinavian fashion brands? Yes, if I haven’t seen it for myself I would be in doubt too, but it turns out some Scandi brands are far from minimal (and I love them for it!).

If you’ve seen any street style photos lately then you’ve probably seen this impeccably dressed group of fashionistas that come from Denmark. They mix and match in the coolest way, and can somehow make anything look cool. Maybe it’s because they’re a bit souther geographically speaking, but their styles don’t reflect that typical minimal look that Scandinavia is known for. Instead, they combine pieces like sneakers with feminine dresses and are not afraid of prints. Instagram has proven as an endless source of inspiration once again, and not only did I find all of those ladies there, but I’ve also discovered some of the brands that they approve of. Here are 3 of my fave Scandinavian fashion brands that I want to buy everything from.

Ganni

Ganni is an absolute hit with the it-girls. The brand comes from Copenhagen and perfectly reflects the easy-going vibe of the city. From dresses to slouchy knits, every piece from Ganni exudes coolness. It’s very playful, but never over the top. The prices are somewhere in the middle, perfect for a girl that wants to invest in something better than fast fashion brands but doesn’t want to sell a kidney for a piece of clothing. Follow their Instagram for a behind-the-curtain insight.

Baum und Pferdgarten

I dare you to pronounce that right! Another Danish brand on the list, Baum und Pferdgarten was founded in 1999. It also offers effortlessly cool pieces for people who love to play around with fashion and style. See it for yourself on their Instagram.

byTiMo

If you love vintage like me and have a thing for dresses, byTiMo will swipe you off your feet. The brand comes from Norway and was established in 2004. I love that their colours and prints are made in-house, giving a unique touch to all of their pieces. I spend a lot of my free time drooling over their dresses. You can do the same on their Insta page.
