Eco fashion brands for every style

  • Ivona Josipovic
  • 19 March 2018

We bring you 5 eco fashion brands for every style.

Environmental awareness is on the rise and fashion brands are starting to join in on the mission to save the earth. The fashion industry is a leading polluter across the globe, contributing about 8% of the world’s carbon emissions. Dozens of brands are starting to make changes to the way they produce clothing, the types of materials they use, and the way they market and sell their products in an attempt to reduce their impact on the environment.

Once associated with braided hemp hats and patchwork hippie pants, the eco-fashion industry has undergone a revolution in the past decade and is now represented by an assortment of fashionable and modern brands. If you’re considering a switch to sustainable fashion, but you’re worried about finding eco-friendly clothing that suits your taste, check out this list of five eco fashion brands for every style.

For the Chic Minimalist: Elizabeth Suzann

@Elizsuzann

Nashville-based designer, Elizabeth Suzann is known for her sleek and classic silhouettes in earthy neutral colors. All of her designs are cut and hand sewn in small quantities in her design studio. This type of small-scale, local production reduces the environmental impact associated with manufacturing and transportation. Elizabeth Suzann garments are made out of natural, eco-friendly materials like linen, silk, and wool. These fabrics are less energy-intensive to create and will biodegrade more rapidly than synthetic fibers.

For the Fashion Forward: Reformation

@Reformation

Reformation makes cute and trendy tops, bottoms, dresses and jumpsuits using eco-friendly and recycled materials. They are making efforts to reduce their environmental impact throughout their entire supply chain: they source materials locally when possible, their energy-efficient factory recycles 75% of its production waste, and they use minimal and recycled packaging for their products. If you’re planning a wedding or attending one as a guest this year, they have a Bridal collection that would work for the wedding party and guests alike.

For the Quirky Creative: Tonlè

@Tonledesign

Zero-waste fashion brand Tonlè carries a line of unique knits that are handmade from upcycled fabric remnants. They piece together the scraps of fabric left over from traditional clothing production to create garments decorated with their hand drawn, screen printed designs. Any fabric too small to use is then tediously sewn together to make yarn for handwoven tops, cardigans, and scarves. Use code CURATED20 to get 20% off of any order through the end of May.

For the Sleek Professional: Siizu

@Siizu_0fficial

Siizu carries sophisticated blouses, tops, and dresses that are perfect for a day at the office. They are dedicated to using 100% natural and eco-friendly materials in their lines, and they are making efforts to minimize their carbon footprint throughout their supply chain. To help offset their environmental impact, Siizu makes ongoing donations to plant trees across the globe. If you’re looking for more than just clothing, Siizu also carries a line of minimal, handmade jewelry and natural skincare products.

For the Casual Homebody: Alternative Apparel

@Alternativeapparel

Alternative Apparel makes everyday basics out of organic and eco-friendly materials using non-toxic and low impact dyes. Their clothing manufacturing process uses 60% less water and incorporates recycled materials into their fabrics. Check out their Alternative Eco line of hoodies, sweats, and tees for that soft look and feel while you’re lounging around the house.
