5 stylish queens from TV screens – our fave TV characters with the best style

It’s the golden age of TV shows. There are so many amazing series to watch and fans of every genre can find great stories to follow. With that came a bunch of amazing characters. Some we love, others we love to hate, and the best of them inspire us. As all of them wear costumes there is plenty of fashion to observe, and some, in my opinion, would be worth watching for style alone. There’s phantasy, there’s retro, there’s time traveling to another decade and a whole lot of amazing fashion. Costumes are crucial to building a character and I think great style on small screens is worth celebrating.

So here’s 5 TV characters with the best style, whose outfits speak volumes:

Miriam “Midge” Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan)

“The Marvelous Mrs Maisel”

I just love, love, love this show! It’s amazing on so many levels, and costumes are a big part of it. Based in the late 50’s, it reflects the era perfectly and is one of the most beautiful shows I’ve ever seen. ‘Midge’ is a great lady with a great wardrobe to match. If you’re a vintage fan this will be heaven for you.

Villanelle (Jodie Comer)

“Killing Eve”

Full disclosure – I haven’t seen this show yet. I heard it’s really good and then I heard that Villanelle’s style is even better. From what I saw on photos and in trailers, she’s a killer with a killer wardrobe. The outfit in this photo alone was enough to convince me. I am looking forward to watching the show and seeing more of Villanelle’s fashion.

Dr. Rainbow Johnson (Tracee Ellis Ross)

“Black-ish”

Rainbow is a modern day woman. She has a career and a family life to balance. Somehow she does it all looking really cool, with a style that matches her name and her playful personality. We have already confessed our love for Tracee Ellis Ross that plays this role, and our love continues for her character. The whole Johnson family is filled with fashionistas and all of them have something that sets each apart from the others. Great show and equally great fashion.

Grace Hanson (Jane Fonda)

“Frankie and Grace”

Grace Hanson from Frankie and Grace is the proof that TV needs to give more space to people of all ages. She is in her late 70’s (or even 80?) but still a force to be reckoned with. I love her timeless elegance and how she’s always put together. Her style is subtle, but still strong and a reflection of a lady that she is. Another person with amazing style from this show that I love is Grace’s daughter Brianna. Talk about a powerful woman.

Elektra Abundance (Dominique Jackson)

“Pose”

A friend of mine recommended this show, and although I just started watching it I could tell after the first episode that the style was on a whole new level. I could watch it even with no sound on just to stare at amazing outfits. And I chose Elektra to represent Pose, but there’s plenty of fashionista characters in the show, like Prey Tell played by Billy Porter.

Honourable mentions for great costumes: Why Women Kill, Glow, The Crown

Honourable mentions for stylish men: Suits and Ballers

Which are your favourite TV characters with the best style?

I liked Gabriel Union’s on Being Mary Jane, Daenarys on Game of Thrones(later seasons). For men, Ray Donovan, of course!
