5 shoe brands for modern day Cinderellas

  • Ivona Josipovic
  • 18 November 2019

Shoes are always a good idea and we love seeing new brands emerging and bringing something cool to the market. That’s why we selected our favourite 5 shoe brands that are quite different but all make their own versions of high quality shoes for modern women. For artsy types, vintage lovers, party queens – there’s something for everyone’s feet.Mercedes Castillo – for the cool girl

Mercedes Castillo worked as a shoe designer at Donna Karan and Tory Burch before starting her own line. Launched in 2017, the brand has already achieved success and can be purchased online with prestigious retailers like Net-a-porter. As her website states: “Hallmarks of her designs include sculptural shapes with perfectly refined lines, slightly exaggerated proportions, adventurous colors, and handcrafted details.”

Cult Gaia – for the art lover

Originally known for their bags, Cult Gaia has grown into a lifestyle brand that also produces amazing shoes and clothes. The aesthetic of the brand is entwined in all its lines. The sculptural elements that put Cult Gaia on the fashion map can also be seen in the shoes.

Midnight00 – for the party queen

Ada Kokosar is a creative director, designer, fashion editor, and stylist. After collaborating with Public School and Cesare Piacotti she decided to launch her own show brand. That’s how Midnight00 was born in spring of 2019. The brand is known for its bold and romantic expression of Cinderella’s glass slipper. It is inspired by childhood fairytales and the opulence found in the era of Marie Antoinette.

Miista – for the vintage lover

Miista Shoes was founded by Laura Villasenin in 2010. As she says:”Miista unites the nostalgia of my rural Spanish heritage with a modernist female sentiment, translating cinematic, surreal, and retrospective inspirations into timeless styles rendered in Italian leathers and unexpected materials.”

Gordana – for the bold type

This brand was founded in 2011 by Gordana Dimitrijevic, a Bosnian girl living in Paris. Gordana shoes are bold, colourful, glittery. They are made to stand out and be the piece that catches the eye. You can get a pair when in Paris by visiting her store on Rue De Seine 76.
