Summer is now behind us and that’s no reason to be sad. As we close that chapter, another was is approaching bringing colourful leaves, chilly days and cloudy skies. Rain usually makes me wanna stay in bed with a warm cup of tea, fuzzy blanket and a great book. And that’s exactly what I’m here to share today – my reading list for fall. A good book can brighten up the greyest day, so here are some titles I recommend and some that I’m looking forward to reading myself.
We love Garance Dore here at TSD. She is our girl crush, an inspiration and a proof that you can work in the fashion industry and stay human, kind and humble. So, when she revealed that her book Love x Style x Life will be coming out this fall we were over the Moon excited. It will be amazing to discover all the story that this lady shared and if you feel inpatient and want it right now you can preorder on Amazon (the release date is on October 27).
If you need a bit of cheering up and want to look at the funny side of life, a book by who other than Mindy Kaling should do the trick. She is not only a great comedian with a super successful TV show The Mindy Project, but she is also an author and her second book Why Not Me? is coming out on September 15.
Want to feel your blood rush, holding tightly to the cover of your book wandering what will happen to the main character? The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafron will make you glued to its pages while you rush through the streets of Barcelona unselling misters. Recommended to me by a dear friend, I got my copy instead of buying souvenirs while on a birthday trip to Paris. (I got it at Shakespeare and Company, one of the most beautiful bookstores ever!)
In the mood for something more classic? I’de say go for Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, a heart-warming tale that really puts life into perspective for you. You will follow the March family journey through the struggles of American Civil War, growing up and learning to be there for each other. After reading what these little girls went through, maybe we’ll stop complaining about the small irrelevant thing and count our blessings instead.
Last but not least comes the Wiseguy book by Nicholas Pileggi. What’s most fascinating about this story is that it actually happened! Now, I have only seen the movie that is called The Good Fellas and is based on the book, and judging from the fact that the book is usually better than the film, I can vouch for this one. My bf loves this mafia story so maybe you can recommend this one to yours too. And just keep in mind, this may not be a girly girl’s book, so don’t say I didn’t warn you.
